It's like a three ring circus today at SFF (and could that possibly have been a not so segue to spotlighting today's 5:30 PM screening of THE SHOW MUST GO ON at the Sarasota Opera House, a riveting documentary about Sarasota's own Flying Wallenda Family?) Yep, you got me! I had the pleasure of speaking with that film's director plus Tino Wallenda and several members of his family about the film and their incredible lives (I had no idea the Wallendas have been doing this for 200 years and have been in Sarasota since the 1920s, amazing!) The Flying Wallenda Family will be on the Red Carpet at 4:45 PM in support of this touching and thrilling film. (And Tino is scheduled to perform the high wire tonight at Cinema Tropicale!) Director RY RUSSO YOUNG (an SFF alum) co-wrote the script for this film with Lena Dunham, director of Tiny Furniture and creator/star of HBO's breakout hit GIRLS. The film stars Olivia Thirlby (JUNO), John Krasinski (THE OFFICE) and Jane Levy (SUBURGATORY).
Martine (Olivia Thirlby) is a New York based video artist working on her latest piece when she arrives in L.A. to collaborate with a professional sound engineer named Peter (John Krasinski). Invited into Peter’s home by his wife Julie Rosemarie DeWitt), Martine soon begins to upset the order of things, driving a wedge between Julie and Peter and forcing them to confront the state of their feelings for one another. Ry Russo-Young’s NOBODY WALKS is a compelling drama about the seductive power of creativity and the impact of attraction on the lives of her carefully drawn, deeply flawed characters.

Arcadia won director Olivia Silver the coveted Crystal Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival for Generation Kplus Best Film. Starring Oscar-nominnee John Hawkes (WINTER'S BONE). Says Olivia Silver about this cross-country road trip seen through the eyes of young siblings, "So many of us experience families splitting up, family roadtrips, and that messy time of becoming an adolescent, and yet for some reason not that many films portray it realistically — as it feels to someone going through it. If people watch Arcadia and recognize and remember moments from their own childhoods, I'll be happy."

The feature length directorial debut of Adele Romanski, producer of THE MYTH OF THE AMERICAN SLEEPOVER. Recommended by Amy Seimetz! Erin (Megan Boone) and Cal (David Nordstrom) are a couple on the verge of reunion; having broken up the previous year, the pair decide to take a camping trip together to test the waters. As they spend time together, their old wounds and habits begin to rise to the surface. Despite their best intentions, what was intended to be a romantic getaway turns into something much more profound. Adele Romanski’s LEAVE ME LIKE YOU FOUND ME explores the fertile territory of a troubled romance to examine the difficulty of change and overcoming our failures in love.

A lovely time with a wonderful filmmaker! Eccentric, ecclectic friiends gather for a wedding like no other. Says writer/director OnurTukel, "I love the dialogue-driven movies of Woody Allen, Richard Linklater, Noah Baumbach and Whit Stillman. I always wanted to make a New York ensemble movie." And he has!

Dominick Monaghan from LOST and director Douglas Aarniokoski in attendance for after screening Q&A! Star Ashley Bell says about the film's last screening:
"The audience was incredible. They screamed and cheered every time my character killed one of the bad guys. What more affirmation could I want? Run! See it! It is a visceral experience that is not only entertaining, but leaves you questioning the limits you would go to survive."
