kids-youthfestEach year as part of the larger festival, our Education Department presents youthFEST, a completely free and family-friendly cinema celebration!

SFF youthFEST kicks off with Hollywood Nights, a premiere showcase and red carpet awards event featuring the very best in regional student filmmaking from the SFF Reel Life Studio and Young Filmmakers Showcase.

Throughout the festival, SFF youthFEST presents public screenings of culturally, socially and thematically diverse film programs for the young and young at heart. During the school-week, area classes participate in Kids VIP Trip. This exhibition of short, narrative feature and documentary feature films offers local youth an opportunity to be enriched by independent films they otherwise may never have the chance to see.

SFF youthFEST also offers sensory-friendly screenings that are thoughtfully designed to include children with cognitive and developmental disabilities, implementing procedures such as reducing the overall volume of the film and keeping house lights lit. We hope to alleviate certain environmental stressors and social pressures that may coincide with attending a movie screening so children and families can enjoy a fun-filled afternoon without added anxiety or concern.

YOUTH FILM TICKETS

  • KIDS FILM TICKET: FREE youthFEST family films
 (age 12 and younger, tickets required — please visit SFF box office)
  • STUDENT FILM TICKET: $8 (with valid student ID)
  • STUDENT PASSPORT: $20 (any four regularly-priced film tickets. Student ID required)

Additional discounts are available for students who participate in a free or reduced lunch program with notification of eligibility letter presented at time of purchase.
