    Book Readings and Signings

    Meet Acclaimed Director Norman Jewison
    Date: Friday, April 20
    Time: 2:30pm
Where: Selby Public Library, Geldbart Auditorium
    FREE!

In his candid and witty autobiography, Mr. Jewison recalls how for over forty years he has been one of Hollywood’s preeminent storytellers. This Terrible Business Has Been Good to Me reveals the little-known details of life on the other side of the camera. With honesty, humor, and unflappable spirit that have made him one of Hollywood’s best-loved and most successful directors, Mr. Jewison will read and sign copies before receiving the Director's Award at the Sarasota Film Festival's Tribute Dinner the following night.

Meet National Bestselling Author Ethan Canin
    Date: Saturday, April 21
    Time: 12:30pm
Where: Selby Public Library, Geldbart Auditorium
    FREE!

Reading from the acclaimed short story collection, The Palace Thief, Mr. Canin will read excerpts from the beautiful and wrenching "Batorsag and Szerelem," which Canin has adapted into Beautiful Ohio, the Closing Night Film of the Sarasota Film Festival. The story recalls the gradual revelation of a family's painful secrets and one brother's quiet secret, which is the most painful and insidious of all. Mr. Canin will provide insight into both the contemporary literary scene and the art of adaptation for Hollywood.

Sarasota News & Books will be selling copies of This Terrible Business Has Been Good to Me and The Palace Thief at both readings.
