THE 2013 TERRY PORTER VISIONARY AWARD
Nearly three years after his unexpected passing, Terry Porter’s work remains a vital part of our community’s film culture. To many, he was known as the intensely knowledgeable store manager at Video Renaissance, Sarasota’s only independent film rental shop, but loyal patrons and friends also got to know the depth of his passion for film. He had an eye for the underdog, for all things strange, new and wonderful. In honor of Terry’s work as a tireless advocate for emerging voices and cinematic expression, and for his tremendous friendship with The Sarasota Film Festival, we proud to present the third annual Terry Porter Visionary Award to COMPUTER CHESS, a film that captures Terry’s inquisitive spirit, energy and passion for new forms of cinema. |
