In Kris Swanberg's EMPIRE BUILDER, the complacency of married life serves to fuel a trip into discontentment for a young mother (Kate Lyn Sheil). After traveling with her baby to her family's rustic cabin, she begins to form an attachment to a local handyman (Bill Ross) who is working on the property. As the two spend time together, they begin to fall naturally into the rhythms of a simple life off the grid and toward the possibility of a new relationship. EMPIRE BUILDER is a beautifully observed film about the roles we play and the fantasy of escaping our modern responsibilities.

Over the course of the last decade, Sarasota artist John Sims has been developing a form of artistic collaboration that draws on music, poetry, performance and the visual discipline. Working in the field of Math Art, where mathematic equations inspire the forms he creates, Sims has created a beautiful platform for artists to create and respond to one another’s work. THE RHYTHM OF STRUCTURE showcases the theory, work and performances that Sims has created and curated during this fruitful period of his career, an examination of Sims’ Rhythm of Structure project and the compelling art it inspired. Preceded by the short MATH ART.
