About this film
Peabody Award winning filmmaker Judith Helfand investigates our nation's prevailing attitudes about natural disasters, questioning what exactly we are willing to face and prepare for, and what we are not. Using the fatal 1995 Chicago heatwave as a case-study, COOKED explores the epidemiology behind natural disaster deaths, the booming Disaster Preparedness industry, and the socio-political impacts of the intersection between them both.
